Vestavia Hills, the surprise runner-up of Class 7A, Area 6 after stunning Spain Park in the opening round of the area tournament, takes on Gadsden City on Thursday, Feb.12, at 1:30 p.m. in the Northeast Regional semifinals at Jacksonville State.
The Rebels (13-16) knocked off the powerhouse Jaguars on a four-point play at the buzzer when Spencer Haynes nailed a turnaround 3-pointer and was fouled in the process. His free-throw gave the Rebels a 56-55 win. That earned VHHS a spot in the regionals despite a loss to Mountain Brook in the area final.
The winner of the Rebels-Titans matchup will face the Mountain Brook-Huntsville winner.
