Summit Blvd. Crosshaven Dr.
Beginning the week of April 13, Summit shoppers should make plans to avoid the Cahaba Heights entrance to the mall. Jefferson County Environmental Services Department will be replacing a section of pipeline on Summit Boulevard and causing periodic lane closures and traffic diversions.
David Denard, the director of the environmental services department, said approximately 1,000 feet of sewer pipeline will be replaced on one side of Summit Boulevard, a project that will take two to four weeks.

Orange barrels line the road along the Cahaba Heights entrance to the summit.
During the construction, Denard said it will be necessary to close a lane from time to time, and traffic control will be on hand to safely divert drivers. This will affect both entry and exit lanes for the mall. If possible, drivers should use the 280 entrance to the Summit to avoid this construction.
“We coordinated the traffic control plan with the city of Birmingham and Vestavia as well,” Denard said. “We know it will be a disruption, but there’s not much alternative to working in the road there.”
