An update on road construction that may affect your commute.
Nothing is more frustrating than an unexpected traffic jam. (Except maybe getting caught in traffic while every radio station is on commercial break.) Here’s an update on road construction that may affect your commute:
- Work to repave Rocky Ridge Road in Vestavia Hills will continue. Construction will begin 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each weekday and result in temporary lane closures. The repaving will take four to five weeks to complete.
- Due to asphalt milling and traffic striping, Saturday, July 9 at 9 p.m. until Sunday, July 10 at 10 a.m., the two right (outside) lanes of I-59/20 Northbound between Arkadelphia Road (Exit 123) and I-65 (Exit 124) will be closed.
- Starting on Monday, July 11, at 8 p.m., segments of the I-65 northbound inside (left) lane at milepost 231.7 and milepost 237.1 will be closed and the I-65 southbound, outside (right) lane will be closed at milepost 237.1 as the Alabama Department of Transportation performs bridge repairs. All lanes will be reopened no later than 5 a.m. and the repairs should take approximately four nights.
- The Alabama Department of Transportation will be doing traffic striping and pavement marking on I-22 from MP 91 to MP 93. On Monday, July 11 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., the left two lanes will be closed and on Tuesday, July 12 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., the right lane will be closed.
