Bradford Rising Star
Bradford Billingsley stands with the design he created for Birmingham Fashion Week. The dress is made out of screen, paper flowers he cut and rice embellishment, which he spray painted.
A Pizitz student will make his fashion TV debut this month.
Eighth-grader Bradford Billingsley will compete on the premier episode of a new show for teen and tween fashion designers from the producers of Project Runway. The episode of Project Runway: Threads on Lifetime is set for Thursday, Oct. 23 at 9:30 p.m.
In each episode three contestants try to out-design one another and compete for scholarships and other prizes.
Bradford was one of 24 contestants chosen from an initial 250 interviewed. The premiere episode also features special guests television personality Kelly Osbourne and actress and model Jaime King, and was filmed in Los Angeles.
Bradford’s designs have won top spots in Birmingham Fashion Week’s Rising Design Challenge, in which students create designs out of materials that are not fabric. This year he placed second, and in 2013, he placed third.
