George Pierce, Vestavia Hills City Council, Place 4, is running for re-election for his spot on the Council.
Pierce officially qualified for the August election last week, and is one of four incumbents on the Council seeking re-election.
He was originally elected to the council in 2008, and served on the Vestavia Hills Board of Adjustment for 12 years before that, six of which he spent as chair.
"I want to continue serving our citizens and ensure that Vestavia Hills remains an incredible place to live and raise a family," Pierce said.
He said his campaign is focusing on creating more opportunities for citizen engagement, increasing and improving staffing and equipment for the police and fire departments, improving the city's athletic facilities and continuing the push for economic development.
In his time in Vestavia, Pierce has been involved with the Chamber of Commerce and has been an usher at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church for 12 years.
Pierce has lived in Vestavia for 30 years, and is currently employed with the Alabama chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors. He and his wife Kacy Pierce, who is the principal at Liberty Park Middle School, have three children and eight grandchildren. Pierce has a degree in Industrial Management from Auburn University.
More information about Pierce's campaign can be found on the campaign's Facebook page.
Bob Elliot, a local attorney, is also running for Place 4 on the Council.
