BCA Award

The Business Council of Alabama recently presented Jefferson County Rep. Jack Williams with this year’s Business Champion Award.
The BCA, along with the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama and the Birmingham Business Alliance, recognized Williams for his commitment to improving the state’s manufacturing environment, according to a BCA press release.
“Alabama business is fortunate to have Representative Williams in Montgomery,” BCA President and CEO William J. Canary said. “He used his experience and skills in the legislature to repeal the innovator-liability legal theory that seriously threatened Alabama’s economic vitality.”
The Business Champion Award recognizes legislators who support policies that help Alabama’s business climate and the lives of employees, families and citizens, according to the release.
Williams worked to guide Senate Bill 80, which repealed the innovator-liability in cases where a manufacturer’s design was copied without authorization, through the House. That legislation, Canary said, was a priority for the BCA this year.
