During its regular meeting, the City Council accepted a bid for abatement and demolition of buildings for construction of a new city hall and a public safety/municipal court complex.

"The excavation should begin April 7 and and the site should be cleared for construction by the first week of June," City Manager Jeff Downes said.

The council also passed a resolution requesting funding for brand extension initiatives throughout Vestavia Hills, a joint effort between the City and the Chamber of Commerce.

Tatum Design will implement the creative strategy and the cost will not exceed $215,600. Branding will include city website design, gateway design, a tagline, video, advertisements and photography.

"Branding is more than just a logo," Downes said. "It is a crucial economic strategy. People may not realize the assets the City has because they may be hidden. I enthusiastically recommend this investment."
