FOOTBALL
The Vestavia Hills football team fell to rival Hoover, 31-14, on Friday night in a game that officially eliminated the Rebels from playoff contention. This Friday, the Rebels face Oak Mountain in their final Class 7A, Region 3 contest.
VOLLEYBALL
Vestavia Hills’ volleyball team wrapped up the regular season last Tuesday with a win over John Carroll. This week, the postseason begins. The Rebels finished third with a 5-3 record in Class 7A, Area 6 play and will play Spain Park in the semifinals of the area tournament. The winner of that match will secure a spot in the super regional tournament later this week.
The match with Spain Park is set for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mountain Brook, with the winner set to play in the area tournament final at 7 p.m.
CROSS-COUNTRY
The Vestavia Hills boys cross-country team competed in the 27th Annual Husky Challenge in Trussville on Saturday. In the varsity boys race, the Rebels had three racers finish in the top 100, in Matt Kuehr (72nd, 19:22.78), Jared Eudy (85th, 19:54.93) and Andrew Bradshaw (86th, 19:55.7).
