Rebels vs Spain Park
Vestavia Hills quarterback Landon Crowder (14) scores a touchdown against Spain Park last weekend.
The Vestavia Rebels dropped a heartbreaker to Spain Park in high school football last Saturday, losing 14-13 to Spain Park. Spain Park blocked two kicks in the fourth quarter by defensive back Michael Jackson. Jackson blocked a field goal with the Jags leading 14-7 and then swatted away an extra point that would have tied the game. The Jags had built a 14-0 halftime lead but the Rebels roared back on a TD run by Landon Crowder and a scoring run by Carter Jacobs.
The Rebels (3-4, 2-3 Class 7A, Region 3) are now in a four-way tie in the region for the fourth and final playoff berth. The Rebs visit rival Hoover on Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Hoover Met.
