The Birmingham Hammers soccer club is set to play the last home match of the season Saturday at 6 p.m. at Sicard Hollow Athletic Complex.
The Hammers will take on Real United FC Riverhawks and are looking for their third straight win. With their inaugural schedule nearing completion, the Hammers first full-season venture into bringing professional soccer to Birmingham has been successful both on and off the field.
"This Saturday's match is a little bittersweet because while we are excited to see the wonderful support from the community, we know it is our last home match of the season," said Hammers President Morgan Copes.
"We would not be where we are today without the community's support. Everyone from our title sponsor St. Vincent's Health Systems to our youngest of fans have all been vital to our success. Even when we didn't have a team to watch, they showed up to support our cause, so now that we do it is extra special, and we look forward to many more home matches in the coming years."
This season the Hammers have played the entirety of their home schedule at Sicard Hollow Athletic Complex in front of energetic crowds that have seen the Hammers battle clubs across the Southeast, including Nashville FC and Mississippi Brilla FC. Having won their last two matches, the Hammers are looking to close out their home schedule with their third win in a row.
