Both Vestavia Hills High School baseball and softball teams are ranked in the top five of this week's Alabama Sports Writers Association rankings.
The Rebels baseball team has risen to No. 2 in Class 7A, up six spots from last week. Vestavia's softball team remained at No. 3 for the second straight week.
Vestavia's baseball team has a record of 18-8 now, and over the last week notched wins over Hartselle, Wetumpka, Marbury, St. Clair County, Tuscaloosa County and Thompson, only losing to Houston.
The Rebels softball team beat Trousdale County and Chelsea on the final day of competition at the Gulf Coast Classic last Wednesday, only suffering a one-run loss to Hartselle. The Rebels then beat Curry 6-3 on Tuesday to improve to 23-3.
