Registration has been restored and parents can expect refunds for any over-payment.
Registration for the 2016-2017 school year has been reopened for Vestavia Hills City Schools.
Because InfoSnap was unable to implement the system's agreed upon payment process, Superintendent Sheila Phillips said bookkeepers have put together a plan to accept payments at each school, and will be processing refunds for those who were charged incorrectly.
"As we seek to develop future plans for the online registration and fee payment process, know that any input or concerns we have received will be on the table to ensure we never experience this again," Phillips said in a release Thursday afternoon. "Thank you again for your patience and understanding as we move forward."
Online fee payment will also be unavailable for this registration year, but parents will be able to pay any necessary fees at their child's school. Fee information sheets are available on each school's individual website.
There will not be a convenience fee charged, but the schools will not be able to accept credit or debit cards.
Schools will also offer extended office hours to accommodate in-person payments once refunds are processed.
Registration will continue as follows:
- Students who have not completed or begun the registration process can register online in person on Tuesday, Aug. 9 during regular business hours at the Board of Education building, located at 1204 Montgomery Highway. All fees should be paid directly to the student's school.
- Families of students that were already successfully registered will receive refunds by Friday, Aug. 12. Once refunds are processed, schools will begin accepting payments for fees.
Those using online registration are highly encouraged to read the pop-up message before continuing.
Questions should be directed to individual school offices or to the Board of Education office at 402-5100.
