Ryan Conn is one step closer to a $50,000 college scholarship.
Conn won the Liberty Park Middle School competition of the National Geographic Bee on Dec. 2, allowing him to advance to the next round of competition. As school champion, Conn will take a qualifying test to see if he can move on to the state Bee. Alabama’s state Bee will be a Samford University on April 1.
State winners then receive an all-expenses paid trip to Washington D.C. to participate in the national championship round in May. The first place winner will receive a $50,000 college scholarship, a lifetime membership in the National Geographic Society, a subscription to National Geographic magazine and a National Geographic Expedition trip to a national park in recognition of the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service.
