Third graders from Vestavia Hills Elementary School East are selling sweets to support patients in the Children’s Hospital Pulmonary Unit.
Cathy Wall’s class will be selling the donuts on Oct. 31 from 8-9:30 a.m. They will be at 2534 Rocky Ridge Road, next to the Chevron Station. A dozen donuts will cost $10.
James Hardin, one student in the class, said he is excited about the project.
“It’s a great way for us to show how much we care about other children, and it’s a lot of fun,” Hardin said.
The children will be decked out in Halloween gear, wearing costumes for the event, and the money raised will go toward Christmas presents. The students in Wall’s class will take the money raised to shop for items on the Pulmonary Unit patient’s Christmas wish lists.
Stacy Shadrick, a parent of one of the students, said the kids seem ecstatic about helping other kids.
For Cathy Wall, service projects are a tradition. She said the project is a blessing that continues to multiply.
“It makes my heart so happy to see the students so eager to do something so generous for other children,” Wall said.
