Mason Music will offer two camps for parents looking for opportunities for their children.
Both camps run from Wednesday, Dec. 26, to Friday, Dec. 28.
The first camp is for preschoolers, ages 3-5 years old, while the second, a beginner camp, is for children 6-9 years old. The preschool camp runs from 9-11 a.m., and the beginner camp runs from 1-4 p.m. The camps are held at Mason Music’s Cahaba Heights studio, behind The Summit shopping center.
Both camps will focus on the basics of music, said Nicole Patton, director of marketing for Mason Music. The basics include pitch, rhythm, concepts and theory, and the students, specifically in the beginner’s class, will have hands-on experience with a variety of instruments, including drums, piano and a violin, as well as singing classes.
The preschool class involves a lot of moving around, Patton said, adding, “It’s never too early to learn about music.”
The classes help build an early appreciation for music, as well as help children find out which instrument or instruments they are passionate about, Patton said. The camps serve as a “mini-version” of what Mason Music offers throughout the year.
The preschool class costs $75, and the beginner’s class costs $125. The deadline to register is Dec. 4. Register online at masonmusicstudios.com.
