Water main repaired
Homeowners near Columbiana and Tyler Roads now have water after a water main break was repaired.
Water is flowing again for the nearly 300 customers affected by a water main break at Forest Brook Drive. The break is now repaired, said Birmingham Water Works Executive Assistant to the General Manager Anitra C. Hendrix. There are no long-term effects expected, said Hendrix, and affected customers do not need to boil water.
The break occurred Wednesday afternoon near Columbiana Road and Shades Crest Road. BWW announced the break via a news release at 3:41 p.m. and estimated it would take crews approximately 10 hours to repair the leak.
Affected areas in both Homewood and Vestavia Hills included those along Alford Avenue between Columbiana and Tyler Roads, as well as Shades Crest Road between Columbiana Road and Highway 31.
