Road construction
Roadwork that is planned for the week of June 27.
Nothing is more frustrating than an unexpected traffic jam. (Except maybe getting caught in traffic while every radio station is on commercial break.) Here’s an update on road construction that may affect your commute:
- Work to repave Rocky Ridge Road in Vestavia Hills will continue. Construction will begin 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each weekday near Highway 280 and result in temporary lane closures. The repaving will take four to five weeks to complete.
- Starting at 8 a.m. on Friday, the I-59 southbound outside (right) two lanes will be closed as ALDOT repairs the I-59 southbound bridge. The lanes will reopen no later than 5 a.m. Monday, June 27.
- On Monday, June 27, from 3-5 a.m. the Alabama Department of Transportation will be repairing the guardrail on I-65 northbound at the University Blvd. Bridge. The outside (right) lane and shoulder in the construction area will be closed while the work takes place. All lanes will reopen no later than 5 a.m.
