Two men arrested in connection to a suspicious vehicle call turned manhunt from Friday morning have been charged with several crimes.
The suspects have been identified as Birmingham residents Patrick O'Neal Cobb, 20, and Cameron DeShaun Ford, 17. Cobb was charged with attempted murder and second degree receiving stolen property. His bond is set at $300,000.
Ford was adjudicated as an adult and has been charged with attempted murder, first degree stolen property and second degree stolen property. His bond is set at $350,000.
Lt. Kevin York also said police also recovered two stolen fire arms and a stolen vehicle the suspects were driving.
The case started around 1:45 a.m. when police received a call about a suspicious vehicle. When officers attempted to pull over the vehicle, two men got out of the car near Shades Crest Road and Big Springs Drive and fled. The suspects also fired shots at a Vestavia Hills police officer, who was not hit and did not return fire. York said the officer stuck around to help in the search for the suspects and to establish a perimeter.
Several area departments assisted in the search, York said, including Hoover, Homewood, Mountain Brook and Pelham police departments as well as Jefferson County and Shelby County Sheriff's offices.
"It was a great effort of our patrol folks on the night shift who coordinate getting this assistance. They all came together and coordinated quickly and set up a perimeter which helped us capture the first suspect," York said.
