Election Update
The qualifying period for the Aug. 23 municipal election closed Tuesday at 5 p.m., setting the field of candidates with every seat contested.
Of the 12 candidates, four are incumbents seeking another term.
Here are the candidates for the 2016 Vestavia Hills municipal elections:
Office of the Mayor:

City Council, Place 1:

Dennis “Rusty” Weaver

City Council, Place 4:

The election will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 23, and a run off, if necessary, will take place on Oct. 4. The deadline to register to vote is Aug. 8, and the deadline to apply for an absentee ballot is Aug. 18. For more information about the August election, check out our full Election Guide.
