Election Update
On Aug. 23, Vestavia voters will have the chance to elect their 2016-2020 city council members and mayor. Vestavia Voice will provide weekly recaps each week leading up to the election, so you can easily keep up with everything you need to know before you vote.
Here’s the latest:
- Election qualifying has officially closed! Here’s a complete list of candidates.
- The Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Vestavia Hills and the Vestavia Voice are sponsoring an election forum featuring candidates at 6 p.m. on Aug. 15. It will take place at the Vestavia Hills City Hall. The public is invited and encouraged to attend a candidates forum for candidates seeking to serve on the Vestavia Hills City Council. Email Emily Featherston at efeatherston@starnespublishing.com with potential questions for candidates.
Other important information:
- Voters must register by Aug. 8 and regular absentee ballots must be applied for by Aug. 18.
- A runoff election, should it be required, will be held Oct. 4. Elected officials will take office Nov. 7.
- Pick up a copy of the Vestavia Voice’s August issue to see profiles on all the candidates, plus information on where to vote and what to bring to the polls. The August paper should start arriving in mailboxes next week!
