
Election Update
In less than a week, on Aug. 23, Vestavia voters will have the chance to elect their 2016-2020 city council members and mayor. Vestavia Voice has provided weekly recaps each week leading up to the election, so you can easily keep up with everything you need to know before you vote.
Here's the latest:
- Thursday Aug. 18 is the last day to apply for an absentee ballot. Contact City Clerk Rebecca Leavings at 978-0131 for more information. The City Clerk's office is open until 5 p.m.
- Vestavia Voice partnered with the Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Vestavia Hills to host a candidate forum on Monday, Aug. 12. You can watch the full video here or read about the candidate's responses here.
- The Cahaba Heights Community Foundation is hosting a community candidate forum on Sunday. Aug. 21 at 2:30 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. The group has invited all 11 candidates, and extended the invitation to campaign managers if a candidate cannot attend. See the full story here.

- Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on election day. Vestavia Voice will post results as they are made available.

- Horizon Church, 2345 Columbiana Road
- Mountaintop Community Church, 225 Centerview Drive
- Town Village Vestavia Hills, 2385 Dolly Ridge Road
- Cahaba Heights Community and Senior Citizens Center, 4401 Dolly Ridge Road
Visit alabamavotes.gov to check your voter registration status and polling place.
- A runoff election, should it be required, will be held Oct. 4. Elected officials will take office Nov. 7.
