
Election Update
On Aug. 23, Vestavia voters will have the chance to elect their 2016-2020 city council members and mayor. Vestavia Voice will provide weekly recaps each week leading up to the election, so you can easily keep up with everything you need to know before you vote.
Here's the latest:
- The Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce hosted a candidate forum at it's monthly meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 9. Candidates were able to introduce themselves to the audience and explain their main campaign issues and hopes should they be elected. Read more here.
- The Cahaba Heights Community Foundation is hosting a community candidate forum on Sunday. Aug. 21 at 2:30 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. The group has invited all 11 candidates, and extended the invitation to campaign managers if a candidate cannot attend. See the full story here.
- The Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Vestavia Hills and the Vestavia Voice are sponsoring an election forum featuring candidates at 6 p.m. on Aug. 15 at City Hall. Residents can submit questions for the candidates to Emily Featherston at efeatherston@starnespublishing.com.
Other important information:
- All regular absentee ballots must be applied for by Aug. 18 and can be applied for by mail or by visiting the city clerk's office.
- A runoff election, should it be required, will be held Oct. 4. Elected officials will take office Nov. 7.
