During Monday's City Council meeting, Vestavia Hills High School graduate Brad Blount gave the invocation. Blount spoke at a recent Help the Hills forum about his struggle with drug addiction.
The Addiction Prevention Coalition will host a second "Wake Up" breakfast on Thursday, April 16 from 8-9 a.m. at the Vestavia Country Club.
The breakfast will focus on drug and alcohol culture among youth and how to better prevent substance abuse. There will be a panel discussion with parents and their adult children talking about their experience with substance abuse. Panel members will include VHHS graduate Brad Blount and his family. The event is free and open to the public.
The Addiction Prevention Coalition is a grassroots organization that helps to prevent substance abuse by fostering community collaborations, facilitating student led drug prevention programs and expanding access to services across the state of Alabama.
Reservations for the breakfast can be made by visiting addictionpreventioncoalition.org/RSVP
