Q: Dr. Tin Vuong, could you describe your area of expertise?
A: As a Primary Care Sports Medicine provider, my practice focuses on injury prevention and helps patients live an active and healthy lifestyle. My goal is to provide the most up-to-date, non-operative care, diagnostics and treatment for comprehensive musculoskeletal injuries and ailments.
I am able to offer a whole host of diagnostic and treatment modalities to help the patient recover and regain daily function and athletic performance. I offer up-to-date, evidenced-based musculoskeletal care that includes medical management, ultrasound diagnostics and treatment, focused and specialized injections, in-office based medical procedures and physical therapy services. My focus is to provide whole body centered care to help athletes and patients attain their lifestyle goals.
Q: How long have you been practicing?
A: I am board certified in family medicine and board eligible in sports medicine and have been practicing for four years. I am fellowship trained in primary care sports medicine. I attended medical school at A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Mesa, Arizona, and completed my family medicine internship and residency at Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah, Florida.
Q: Do you have a particular success story that stands out to you?
A: I would say that my most cherished memory is getting to know my patients and their families. I once had a 4-year-old patient who suffered a fracture to her elbow. We were able to successfully treat her fracture non-operatively with cast immobilization. In that time frame, I was able to connect with my patient and her mother though our follow-up visits.
It was just a few months later that I saw a 7-year-old boy with the same last name for a fractured upper arm bone. The father who accompanied the patient mentioned that I had previously treated their 4-year-old daughter. Fortunately, we were able to treat both their son and daughter non-operatively, and both are both doing well. It is stories like this where I get to connect with patients and families that make me appreciate the relationships formed over time.
Q: How are you and your staff adjusting your operations to comply with COVID-19 safety measures?
A: We take your health, our health and community health very seriously. All providers, staff and patients are required to have face coverings in our clinic. We also monitor temperatures on all patients and employees on a daily basis. We advise that any providers, staff members and patients who have had close contacts with COVID-19 positive exposure be quarantined and tested. Anyone who is experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 are also asked to stay at home, quarantine and be tested before returning to our office. We keep a clean and sanitary office by making sure all surfaces are cleaned thoroughly with approved cleaning agents.
For those who are high risk or would like to see the physician from afar, we also provide comprehensive telehealth services as well.
Q: Autumn and cooler weather will be right around the corner. What seasonal advice would you like to share with potential patients?
A: With the fall and winter seasons approaching, it is important that we take precautionary measures to make sure our health and safety is placed at the forefront. While we have no idea how long the COVID-19 pandemic will last or if there will be any treatment or vaccinations available by the fall and winter, it is still important — even more-so now — to get your annual influenza vaccination. If there is one thing that’s been learned from this, it’s that it is equally important to practice healthy lifestyles in both diet and exercise to maintain our strong immune systems.
Q: What do you most want potential patients to know?
A: I want potential patients to know that sports medicine specialists are not just for athletes. We see patients of all ages, shapes, sizes and athletic level. Most importantly, here at Precision Sports Medicine & Orthopedics, we respect and value your time, consideration and ultimately your health in the pursuit of living and leading active lifestyles.
