Most men and women experience significant changes in their bodies and their health at midlife, but they can navigate those changes successfully and feel good again if they turn to Icona Health, a new health and wellness clinic in Homewood.
Icona Health creates customized plans for patients, including weight loss, supplements, hormone replacement and non-hormonal treatments, and was opened in June by long-time Homewood residents Dr. Alan McCool and his wife Amy.
“Hormonal changes affect how you feel, but they don’t have to define your 40s and beyond,” Alan says. “With the right care and support, these years can be some of the healthiest and most fulfilling of your life.”
A board-certified urologist, Alan is chief of surgery and chairman of the robotics committee at Jasper’s Baptist Health Medical Center. He has an advanced certification in women’s hormone health from the Academy for Advanced Women’s Health Medicine.
At Icona Health, women reclaim their energy and mood, even during menopause or perimenopause, and men restore their strength and sexual drive.“We get men and women feeling like themselves again,” Alan says.
“We’re both passionate about helping women and men — especially in midlife when hormones are shifting,” Amy says. “It often seems to coincide with other stressful life situations, such as parenting kids, and getting treatment can make a big impact on how women and men feel.”
