David Rencher at Samford University March 24
FamilySearch Chief Genealogy Officer David E. Rencher will be featured presenter at the Alabama Genealogical Society annual spring seminar at Samford University on Saturday, Mar. 24, 2018, from 8:30 am to 3:30pm. For nearly a decade, Rencher has served as Chief Genealogical Officer for FamilySearch, a worldwide genealogy organization headquartered in Salt Lake City.
Key strategist for the extensive and growing collections and business practices at FamilySearch, Rencher also has led a number of the world’s most significant genealogical organizations. He is an expert in Irish and British genealogy, but also spends a good bit of time at the Alabama Department of Archives and History, where he has research interests.
He will lead four sessions at the Mar. 24 event. He will present research strategies for Alabama’s record repositories, illuminate the assets of FamilySearch accessible online, teach techniques for maximizing research in FamilySearch’s collections, and offer methods for organizing the extensive records gathered in a research project.
The seminar will be held in the Dwight M. Beeson Hall (Brock Forum Auditorium) on the campus of Samford University. More information is available at http://www.algensoc.org/main/seminars.html. The event costs $35 for members and $40 for nonmembers.
The Alabama Genealogical Society, Inc. (AGS) is a nonprofit organization chartered in 1958 to assist and support the research of its members by finding, safeguarding, preserving, and publishing records pertaining to Alabama families and their history. It is the only genealogical society in Alabama that serves all 67 counties.
