Moe the pig is moving around to different Vestavia Hills businesses as part of a Snout and About summer campaign by the Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce.
The Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce is in week three of a summer contest to find Moe the pig at a different location each week between June 1 and July 18.
Each week, chamber officials will hide Moe in a different business around town. “It’s up to you to find out where he is by the clues on social media,” said Tracy Thornton, the chamber’s director of membership and marketing.
Clues will be given on the chamber’s social media channels. Once people think they know where Moe is, they can go to the business, find Moe, scan a QR code and be entered in a drawing at that business at noon on Friday, Thornton said.
People can get extra entries in the drawing by tagging the chamber on social media or making a purchase from that business and uploading the receipt using the QR code. People can follow that business and the chamber on social media to find out who wins the drawing, and the winner can go back to that business to claim their prize, she said.
The chamber actually has 21 pigs scattered around the city that were part of a fundraising and marketing campaign nine or 10 years ago, Thornton said. Moe is one of four of them that were unsold and travel around to different locations, she said.
This summer's contest is being called “Snout and About.” Look for clues for this week on the chamber’s Facebook page.
