Bill Smith is the founder and CEO of the Landing flexible living apartment rental company based in Birmingham, Alabama. He formerly founded Shipt and Insight Card Services and helped start CommerceOne Bank.
Bill Smith, the founder of Shipt, Insight Card Services and the Landing apartment rental company, is scheduled to be the guest speaker for the June luncheon for the Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce.
Smith founded Insight Card Services, a company that offers reloadable prepaid Visa cards, in 2009 and sold the company to Green Dot Corp. in 2014. He then founded the Birmingham-based Shipt grocery delivery business in 2014 and sold it to Target for $550 million in 2018.
That led him to his next venture called Landing, a Birmingham-based furnished apartment rental company that offers flexible leases with no deposits.
Smith also in 2018 cofounded CommerceOne Bank, the first bank charter issued in Alabama in more than a decade.
The luncheon is scheduled for June 9 at the Vestavia Country Club at 400 Beaumont Drive. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m., while the program will run from noon to 1 p.m.
Tickets cost $25 through June 5 and $30 for reservations made after June 5. To make a reservation, go to business.vestaviahills.org/events.
