FOOTBALL

The Vestavia Hills football team was overwhelmed by Hewitt-Trussville on Friday night in a 41-6 defeat. This week, the Rebels take a tough road trip to Thompson.


VOLLEYBALL

Vestavia Hills hosted a pair of Class 7A, Area 6 matches, splitting them. On Tuesday, the Rebels fell to Mountain Brook in four sets (17-25, 23-25, 25-23, 23-25), with three of the sets being played within just two points. On Thursday, Vestavia dispatched Hewitt-Trussville in three sets. 

This week, the Rebels host Hewitt-Trussville on Tuesday, travel to Spain Park Thursday and play in the Margaret Blalock Tournament over the weekend.


CROSS-COUNTRY

The Vestavia Hills cross-country teams ran in the prestigious Jesse Owens Classic in Oakville on Saturday. The boys team posted a sixth-place finish overall. The boys were led by Ethan Strand, who came home second with a 15:39.9 time in the 5,000-meter run. Bryce Hutchinson placed 11th, with a time of 16:13.88. John Ingram’s 16:36.93 was good enough for 32nd. Crawford West led the girls team with a 20:31.73, good for 65th.
