The Reset: Football off to strong start

FOOTBALL

The Vestavia Hills football team is off to a strong start, as the Rebels backed up their win over Homewood with a 28-21 victory against Spain Park on Friday to open Class 7A, Region 3 play. The Rebels continue region play this Friday, as they pay a visit to Mountain Brook.


VOLLEYBALL

Vestavia Hills played one volleyball match last week. The Rebels opened up area play against Mountain Brook with a three-set loss (26-28, 21-25, 17-25). This week, they continue area action with a home match against Spain Park on Tuesday.


CROSS-COUNTRY

The Vestavia Hills cross-country teams ran at the Chickasaw Trails Invitational in Oakville on Saturday. The boys team finished second to Huntsville (101-127) and the girls finished fourth.

The boys had a pair of top-10 finishers with Ethan Strand crossing the line fourth (16:01.35) and Bryce Hutchinson posting the sixth-fastest time (16:06.36). John Ingram (31st), Andrew Precise (47th) and Mitchell Lee (48th) also came home in the top 50. Jackson Campbell and Benjamin Knighten also posted times.

For the girls, Crawford West led the way, posting a time of 20:35.48 to come home 23rd. Katy Lambert (30th) and Sarah Comer (32nd) followed in short order. Christina Sorochinsky, MaryGriffith Lytle, Margaret Patton and Sarah Beth Stair also ran.
