The reigning state champs have another piece of hardware to add to the trophy case.

The 2016 Vestavia Hills High School girls soccer team was announced as a recipient of the 2015-16 National Soccer Coaches Association of America High School Team Academic Award on Sept. 29. The Rebels were well clear of the threshold of a minimum 3.25 grade point average to earn the honor. The team GPA was 3.91.

“This award is indicative of the commitment the girls have on and off the field,” head coach Brigid Littleton said in a press release.

“Our team’s philosophy is, ‘We don’t get tired.’ It means exactly what it says. We can do anything faster and stronger and longer in all aspects of life on and off the field. That belief, whether factual or not, increases performance where it’s applied,” Littleton said.

Along with a state championship and a No. 1 national ranking from MaxPreps, Littleton was named Coach of the Year in Alabama by the NSCAA.
