Former Vestavia Hills star Georgie Salem clobbered a pair of home runs to lead Alabama over Samford 12-1 in college baseball Tuesday night at Samford.

Alabama (16-15) tied its season high with 18 hits.

Salem, the junior center fielder, rapped two solo home runs to finish 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Salem gave the Tide its first run of the night, a solo shot out to right field for his first round-tripper of the season.

In the top of the second, Salem struck again. This time he went deep to left on a solo knock to give Alabama a 5-0 lead through two.
