The Vestavia Rebels head to Alabaster to face the Thompson Warriors in a key Class 7A, Region 3 game.

Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Larry Simmons Stadium.

The Rebels (4-1, 2-1) are tied for third place in the region with Hewitt-Trussville, which holds the tiebreaker at this point after beating the Rebels head to head. Four teams from each of the four 7A regions make the playoffs.

Thompson (3-2, 1-2) is tied with Oak Mountain at fifth in the region.

The Rebels knocked off Oxford last week in a non-region game while Thompson had an open date.

"We're in great position (in the region race)," quarterback Brett Jones said after the game. "We're just going to come out and practice really hard and get ready for Thompson."

Coach Buddy Anderson agreed but said with the difficult Region 3, "I feel like we got our work cut out for us."

After Thompson are games at Spain Park and then Hoover at home before closing region play at Tuscaloosa County, which is currently winless.
