Vestavia Hills has found its new boys basketball and wrestling coaches.

Patrick Davis will take over as the head of the Rebels program on the hardwood, as he will replace longtime coach George Hatchett. Davis comes from Thompson High School, where he spent the last seven years as head coach. He led Thompson to the Elite Eight in 2013.

Davis follows a legend in Hatchett, who won over 550 games in his career, including the last 35 years at Vestavia. He advanced to four Final Fours and won two state championships in 1992 and 2009 and was named the state’s Coach of the Year in both seasons.

Hatchett was inducted into the Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2011 and the Vestavia Hills Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.

On the wrestling mat, Tee Adams will take the place of another longtime coach, Steve Gaydosh, who led the Rebels to the 2016 state championship in his final season at the helm.

Adams was the wrestling coach at Hewitt-Trussville High School and a teacher at Hewitt-Trussville Middle. He is returning to his alma mater, as he graduated from Vestavia Hills in 2003. He wrestled collegiately at Upper Iowa University, where he received his degree in education.
