Rebels swept by Thompson in baseball playoffs

Thompson beat Vestavia Hills 10- and 1-0 to sweep the Rebels in their AHSAA Class 7A state quarterfinal playoff series.

The third-ranked Warriors moved to the state semifinals for the first time since 2006. The Rebels, ranked No. 1 in the final regular season poll, saw their outstanding season end despite a great pitching performance by Sonny Potter in game two. Potter, who is committed to Alabama, gave up six hits and an unearned run while striking out eight.
