The Liberty Park Middle School track and field team competed in the Outdoor Track and Field Metro South Championship, which was held at Mountain Brook High School. Caleb Leak earned one of the highest honors as the metro champion in discus. Other students receiving recognition were:

Ian Harper - 5th place in 1600 meters

Arden Young - 5th place in 100 meter hurdles

Elizabeth Bradberry - 5th in shot put

John Ingram - 7th in 800 meters

Riley Nix - 7th in 100 meter hurdles

Mary Caroline Styles - 8th in discus

Zoe Woodrow - 8th in pole vault and 8th in 100 meters.

Liberty Park Middle had a total of 20 girls and 12 boys that qualified to compete in the championship meet, which is a record for the school.

The Metro South has six area competitions, and the Outdoor Track and Field Metro South Championship is held at the end of the season. All athletes competing in the metro championship must have qualified in their events at a middle or high school sanctioned meet during the season.  All 12 metro-area teams competed in the championship meet.
