Vestavia Hills pitcher Caden Lemons got all he needed in the first inning, and dominated Spain Park to the tune of a no-hitter on Thursday night.

The Rebels scored in the bottom half of the opening inning on run-scoring groundouts from Sonny Potter and Sam Lawson, allowing Chris Fisher and Parker Hershey to cross home plate. The 2-0 lead stood for the duration.

Lemons struck out eight and walked four batters in his complete game effort, throwing 95 pitches in seven innings.

The Rebels only got three hits in the ballgame -- one from Hershey and two from Lawson -- but that was three more than the Jags were able to muster in the Class 7A, Area 6 bout.

Jags starter Hayden Freeman allowed two runs in six innings.
