The chance to meet a book author, an American hero, and a very special dog doesn’t happen everyday.

Students at Vestavia Hills Elementary West received a visit on May 16 from book author Sharman Martin, who was joined by veteran, Noah Galloway to share her second book, Bo Meets a Hero. Martin’s first book, I Can Play Too!, focused on Bo, Martin’s three-legged dog, and his journey for acceptance. In her second book, Martin introduces Bo to Noah Galloway, a U.S. Army veteran who lost part of his left arm and leg during the war in Iraq. Galloway appeared on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” and is currently involved in the FOX series, “American Grit.”

Martin and Galloway spoke with West students and signed books during the special visit. While Bo the dog is no longer living, the author brought along Trigley, another three-legged friend. Martin is also a P.E. teacher at West.

Both books were published by Solid Ground Christian Books. For more information on how to purchase a copy of the book, go to bomeetsahero.com.
