Just like the Rebel Cheerleaders did in February, the Vestavia Hills High School Rebelettes will be traveling to Orlando to compete for a national title this month.

Both the junior and varsity teams will make the trip to the National Dance Alliance (NDA) high school national championship March 2-4 at Universal Orlando’s Hard Rock Live.

Coach and sponsor Faith Lenhart said that after coming in third place in the team performance last year, the girls are working to do even better.

The team rehearses for a minimum of eight hours a week, plus weekends, Lenhart said, in preparation for the three day event.

The 2017-2018 season has already been a successful one for the Rebelettes. In November, the varsity team came in first place at the Nashville Classic, another NDA event, and won first place again in January at the regional competition to qualify for nationals.

At press time, the team was also set to compete in the Bama Dance championship, hosted at VHHS.

As with last year’s competition, the nationals trip for the team will consist of a day of preliminaries, and — if the team progresses — a day of finals.
