Special Board of Education meeting to cover capital plan

The Vestavia Hills Board of Education will discuss the 2015-16 budget and a capital projects on Wednesday.

At the special board meeting, a five-year capital plan for projects within the Vestavia Hills school system will be considered. The plan includes several projects across the school system, including parking lot paving at Vestavia Hills High School, new classrooms at Liberty Park Elementary, a new gym at Vestavia Hills Elementary Cahaba Heights and new classrooms at West Elementary.

A total of 12 projects are listed in the plan, with the majority being funded in 2016. Some projects, such as the parking lot at VHHS, will be completed in 2016. Other projects, including roof replacements, are set to finish in 2020.

The Board of Education will also consider employee supplements for after school activities, renewal of participation in the Alabama Trust for Boards of Education general liability fund and participation in the ATBE automobile fund.

The meeting is Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. at the Vestavia Hills Board of Education, 1204 Montgomery Highway. The full agenda can be found online.
