Schools select new assistant superintendent

At the Dec. 17 board of education meeting, Vestavia Hills City Schools selected Jane-Marie Marlin as the new assistant superintendent.

Marlin has been the VHCS director of curriculum and instruction since 2013. She has been in education since 1989, including teaching at Guntersville and Mountain Brook High Schools. She also spent nine years as Mountain Brook City Schools' staff development specialist.

She is a National Board Certified Teacher and holds three degrees from University of Alabama and an administrative certification from Samford University.

"Jane-Marie is well-versed in all areas of of teaching and learning and has been instrumental in improving the level of professional conversations within our school district," Vestavia Hills Superintendent Sheila Phillips said in a press release.
