The corner office at the Vestavia Hills City Schools central office has a new occupant as of this week, as the district's new superintendent officially started the job.

Todd Freeman's first day was Monday, March 12, but the Vestavia Hills City Schools Foundation hosted a welcoming reception for the new superintendent and his wife Wednesday at the Vestavia Hills Library in the Forest.

Freeman comes to Vestavia by way of Sylacauga City Schools and Auburn City Schools, and Board of Education member David Powell, who introduced Freeman, said the board is more than confident in its choice.

Freeman thanked the board and said that he is excited to finally be in the role. He added that he and his family plan to immediately get involved in the community, and will be moving to the area as soon as possible.
