BOE candidates announced

The candidates to be considered for the vacancy on the Vestavia Hills Board of Education were announced by City Council member John Henley at the Council's meeting Monday night. A list of the candidates was also shared on the City's Facebook page Tuesday morning.

The candidates are: Jonathan K Vickers, David Powell, Anita J Turner, Pat Dewees, Lloyd Peeples III, Lisa Baker, Janell M Ahnert, Allison E Maners, Thomas W Parchman III, Kimberly B Cook, Kristin Henderson, Celia C Anthony, Steve Bendall, Chirayu "Charlie" Shah and Jeffrey Dugas.

Interviews of the candidates will be conducted on Wednesday, Feb. 17 in the Executive Conference Room at City Hall. Interviews are open to the public and will begin at 7:30 a.m. and conclude at 4 p.m.

The candidate selected will fill the vacancy left by Shera Grant, who resigned on January 28 to take the remainder of the unexpired term of the Jefferson County Civil Court seat vacated by Judge Jack Lowther.

The Council will vote on the new board member at its Feb. 22 meeting.
