Vestavia Hills girl collects 1,074 books for Family Promise book drive

Alexis Fizer, is a rising fifth-grader at Vestavia Hills Elementary School Central. She and her family attend Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church, one of the host congregations for Family Promise of Birmingham. She and mom, Dawn Fizer, delivered 1,074 books that Alexis collected for our collection effort that is part of the Bound and Determined auction event July 28.

Alexis loves to read and learned that children who read well by third grade do better in school and life. She decided to participate in the United Methodist Church’s national Bazillion Books collection effort, which encourages people to collect books and connect with a nonprofit or other entity that can distribute them to families. Alexis chose Family Promise as the recipient of her amazing effort.
