On Dec. 18, Santa will come and bring his “Stories from the North Pole” to area children, said Kelly Powell, the library’s marketing specialist.

“He is, in my opinion, the best Santa in town,” Powell said.

A community dinner will begin at 6 p.m., followed by Santa’s show at 6:30. “I think it’s a wonderful free resource,” Powell said.

Helping parents avoid extraordinarily long lines at the mall, Powell said the library Santa will take pictures with children after the show, and will visit with and talk to them.“It really brings the community together,” Powell said.

For those traveling during the holidays, the library offers regular books, audiobooks, Kindles and other devices to get your kids through a long trip, Powell said.

Powell said the library usually sees an increase in visits in the month of December, and all Story Time events will also be Christmas-themed. The library itself will become a winter wonderland, Powell said. Staff began putting the tree up and decorating the entire library in November. “It’s beautiful,” Powell said.

When the makerspace in the library opens, residents will be able to make 3D-printed ornaments, Powell said.
