Building relationships between first responders and the residents they work with is always a good idea, and something Vestavia Hill's Community Night Out fosters each year.

This year's rendition of the event was held on Oct. 2 at City Hall. Members of the Vestavia Hills Fire Department and Vestavia Hills Police Department were present, and had booths and activities for kids to educate them about the departments' roles in the community. Police and firefighters also spent time with families talking about the different gear they use on the job, and kids were welcome to sit in the fire truck or on the police motorcycles that were present.

The Vestavia Belles were also present, and kids took advantage of the activities set up, including a climbing wall, a fire safety trailer and cornhole. Local businesses also contributed food and drinks for the evening for those who attended.
