Local attorney Rusty Weaver running for Council Place 1

Rusty Weaver, a 28-year Vestavia Hills resident, is running for Place 1 on the Vestavia Hills City Council in the upcoming municipal elections.

Weaver, an attorney with Weaver, Tidmore law firm who lives in the Liberty Park area, said he is running in order to support team work as well as strong community and local values. He said he hopes to strengthen the school system and parks and recreation department, as well as promote transparency and fiscal responsibility.

Weaver has been a coach for various Vestavia Hills Parks and Recreation athletic teams, including baseball, football and soccer.

"I feel it is now time to get involved more in city matters beyond the ballparks," he said.

Weaver has a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Alabama, as well as a law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law. He is married to Michelle Weaver, and has two sons, Michael, 14, and Major, 8. The family are members of Church of the Highlands.

Weaver is also the operator of a working farm in Etowah County.
