VHHS Principal Wes Gordon resigns, Tim Loveless named interim

by

On July 24, Wes Gordon announced his resignation as principal of Vestavia Hills High School to become director of curriculum and professional development at Auburn City Schools. Retired high school administrator Tim Loveless has been named interim principal of VHHS.

"This exciting new opportunity is one I could not turn down. It is the right move for me and my family," Gordon said. "I am very proud of the work I did for VHHS and this school system. The last eight years have been incredible years for me. I love this school and will always love this school. I will take many great memories away with me. The teachers and staff I hired are my legacy at VHHS, and I could not be more proud."

Loveless retired in 2014 from an assistant principal position at Cullman High School, a role he had occupied since 2009. Prior to that, he served in several other administrative roles for Cullman City Schools and Winston County Schools. Loveless will serve as interim principal until a permanent principal is named.

"He knows high school and will be a welcomed addition to the administrative team for this temporary period," Superintendent Sheila Phillips said. "He will be with us as long as it takes to find a permanent principal. We will be as thorough as possible, and we will do all we can to protect the integrity of the selection process."
