Storm causes road closure on Rocky Ridge

Drivers should avoid Rocky Ridge Road as cleanup efforts continue after Tuesday night's storms. Vestavia Hills Police Sgt. Robbie Watts said that Rocky Ridge Road is closed from Shades Crest Road to Rocky Brook Drive due to impassable conditions.

Due to heavy winds, trees and power lines are down in the area and blocking the roads. The police have put up barricades and Watts said they have called Alabama Power about the situation. While there are crews working in the area, fallen power lines are hazardous to clean up.

Watts could not give an estimated time for the road to reopen.
