Police obtain warrants for Tuscumbia man connected to Vestavia thefts

Vestavia Hills Police Department investigators obtained felony arrest warrants for a suspect in connection to crimes in Jefferson County and Colbert County.

Two Visa gift cards were stolen from a residence’s doorstep in the 3400 block of Wren Road between Aug. 13 and Aug. 15. The suspect, later identified as Tuscumbia resident Jake R. Hogan, reportedly used the stolen cards on Aug. 15 while in Muscle Shoals.

When investigators obtained and executed a search warrant for Hogan’s residence, property was located that had been taken during another residential burglary. This burglary had occurred between Aug. 9 and Aug. 11 in the 1600 block of Panorama Drive.

Investigators obtained a felony arrest warrant for third degree burglary on Aug. 24.

Hogan is currently in the Colbert County Jail, and total bond on all charges is $225,000 in Jefferson County and $2,500 in Colbert County.

The investigation is on-going and further charges may follow.
